Responsibilities
- Author realistic clinical interpretation scenarios, from intake visits to informed consent conversations.
- Write reference interpretations with the terminology and register decisions behind each rendering.
- Grade model output for accuracy, completeness, and clinical register in both languages.
- Flag renderings that read fluent but change the clinical meaning.

Preferred skills
- Experience in high stakes settings such as oncology, emergency, or informed consent conversations.
- Telephonic and video remote interpreting experience.
- Sight translation of medical documents.
Experience and education
- CMI or CHI certified medical interpreters, or holders of an equivalent credential.
- Working interpreters with at least 2 years in clinical settings.
- CMI or CHI certification, or an equivalent medical interpreter credential.
- 2+ years of interpreting in clinical settings.
Language requirements
- Interpreters with full professional command of medical terminology in both working languages.

- Clear written English for documenting interpretation decisions.
Assessment requirements
- Apply at /apply/medical-interpreter-expert. About five minutes. Resume plus a few structured questions.
- Resume review. Every application gets read against a published rubric and gets a decision.
- Written assessment. You may be asked to take a written assessment for further placement.
- Onboarding. Sign the contractor agreement, connect Stripe, and get platform access.
- Project match. You're matched to live work in your specialty, usually within a week of onboarding.
Schedule details
Time Commitment: 10 hours/week.
Start Date: ASAP.
End Date: Ongoing.
Fully remote, fully async. No fixed hours.
Minimum 10 hours per week, no maximum. Scale up or down week to week.
Independent contractor. Ongoing project work rather than single task batches.
Able to commit at least 10 hours per week.

Compensation details
- $55 - $95/hr.
- $55 to $95/hr, paid weekly via Stripe. Your rate is set from your experience, not negotiated down after you start.
