About the role

Your deep knowledge of physics will directly shape how AI understands, reasons through, and explains complex scientific concepts — making a real impact on the frontier of AI development.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role working alongside world-leading AI research teams. If you have a strong physics background and love rigorous problem-solving, this is your opportunity to contribute to something genuinely cutting-edge.

Why Join Us

  • Work directly with industry-leading AI labs on genuinely frontier research.
  • Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule, from anywhere.
  • Freelance advantages: high autonomy, variety of problems, and global collaboration.
  • Potential for ongoing contract renewals and expanded project involvement.
  • Make a meaningful contribution to how AI understands the physical world.

Responsibilities

  • Design challenging, well-structured physics problems spanning mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, and more.
  • Develop clear, step-by-step solutions with rigorous logic to serve as gold-standard references.
  • Evaluate AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy, reasoning quality, and clarity.
  • Collaborate with researchers to build and refine benchmarks across undergraduate to Masters-level physics.
  • Provide structured, actionable feedback that helps AI models reason more like expert physicists.

Required skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills across advanced physics domains.
  • Able to communicate complex ideas clearly and precisely in writing.
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable working independently and asynchronously.

Preferred skills

  • Experience with data annotation, data quality assessment, or evaluation workflows.
  • Familiarity with writing technical content or educational materials.
  • Background in computational or experimental physics.

Experience and education

  • Currently pursuing or have completed a Masters degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or a closely related field.
  • No prior AI or machine learning experience required.
