What to know
About Alignerr
Alignerr is a global expert network that connects professionals with paid projects involving the training and evaluation of artificial intelligence. The platform is operated by Labelbox, a San Francisco-based company that provides tools and services for creating AI training data and testing how well AI systems perform.
Labelbox was founded in 2018 by Manu Sharma, Brian Rieger and Dan Rasmuson. Alignerr became publicly active as its expert network by 2024.
AI data training work at Alignerr
The work you do depends on the project. You may write prompt questions, create strong example answers, review AI-generated responses, check facts, compare two answers, label text, images or audio, or create scoring guides. A scoring guide, sometimes called a rubric, is simply a set of standards used to judge whether an answer is accurate, clear and useful.
Alignerr says its network covers more than 50 fields. Its job listings include projects for software engineers, researchers, accountants, finance specialists, marketers, customer support professionals, project managers and structural engineers. Some positions require a master’s degree, Ph.D. or substantial professional experience. Other general data-labeling roles mainly ask for attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
What is it like to work at Alignerr?
Most contributor opportunities are freelance or independent contractor roles. The work is remote and often completed independently. Many hourly listings advertise flexible commitments of 10 to 40 hours per week, while some assignments are paid per task or per accepted task. Individual roles may be limited to certain countries, regions or cities, so remote work does not always mean that every applicant worldwide is eligible.
Pay varies widely by subject and project. Current listings show ranges such as $20 to $50 per hour for some marketing and support work, $60 to $120 for finance and accounting projects, and $70 to $120 for software engineering tasks. Alignerr says certain specialist roles may pay up to $150 per hour. These are advertised ranges, not guaranteed earnings. Payments are arranged through Stripe Connect or PayPal depending on your location, and many listings advertise weekly payouts. Labelbox’s payment FAQ says that pay-per-accepted-task submissions are paid only after quality review and final acceptance; a completed task that is not accepted is not paid.
Alignerr's application process separates joining the expert community from being matched to an assignment. In practice, passing gives entry into a talent network, not a promise of immediate paid work. Your expertise, location, assessment results, availability and current client demand may all affect project access. Gaps between assignments are therefore possible.
Recent developments and media coverage
The scale of the network stands out. Labelbox currently says Alignerr includes more than 2.6 million contributors across over 200 fields and 40 countries. In February 2026, Labelbox also acquired Upcraft to improve how it recruits, engages and supports Alignerr experts.
Application process at Alignerr
You begin by signing in with Google, uploading your resume and reviewing the profile information created from it. You select your skills and interests, then apply to an opening that matches your background. Alignerr also verifies your phone number and identity through Persona, an identity-checking service that may ask you to photograph an official ID.
After approval, you complete a contractor agreement and set up payments through Stripe Connect or PayPal. You then receive onboarding materials for the Labelbox work platform and Discord, which Alignerr uses for resources, announcements and project updates. Even after onboarding, you may need to wait until a suitable project becomes available.
