TELUS Digital

Global AI data projects for raters, linguists and domain specialists

What to know

About TELUS Digital

TELUS Digital is a Vancouver-based digital services company whose AI Community recruits contributors for data collection, labeling and evaluation projects. Some contributor notices still use the earlier TELUS International AI legal name, while current public branding uses TELUS Digital.

TELUS Digital traces its origins to 2005, is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, and expanded its AI data operation after acquiring Lionbridge AI in 2020. The contributor legal entity named in its privacy notice is TELUS International AI, Inc. TELUS Digital’s official history explains the company’s origins and the addition of Lionbridge AI.

AI data training work at TELUS Digital

The AI Community recruits people to collect, label and evaluate information used by search engines and AI models. Common roles include search quality raters, advertisement assessors, maps analysts, media search analysts, data annotators and linguists. Tasks can involve text, images, audio, video and location data. You may judge whether a result answers a query, identify content in an image, transcribe speech, compare model responses or check output for accuracy and safety.

Some projects rely on language and local cultural knowledge; others require science, healthcare, technology, law or operational expertise. TELUS Digital’s May 2026 data overview describes a shift from basic labeling toward expert judgment, multi-step agent trajectories and reinforcement-learning sandboxes. The current AI job board also includes on-site and specialist physical-AI or robotics work alongside the familiar remote search, media and language-evaluation roles.

What is it like to work at TELUS Digital?

Terms vary by role. Many AI Community listings are remote, part-time and project-based, while the exact contractor model still depends on the individual opening. The individual advertisement tells you whether the engagement is freelance, supplier-based or another arrangement. Its contributor privacy notice refers to contractual and supplier relationships, which is different from a universal employee offer.

Geographical eligibility is strict. A role may require you to live in one named country for a minimum period, use a particular language daily and understand local news, media or search habits. Working while traveling abroad may not be allowed. You normally use your own computer or smartphone and a reliable internet connection.

Hours and project duration are stated per listing. Some evaluator roles offer flexible scheduling within a weekly maximum or minimum, while data-collection projects may be one-off. Rates also depend on the country and role; TELUS Digital does not publish one global community rate. The individual TELUS Digital listing shows whether pay is per task or per hour and explains its payment schedule.

Passing an assessment qualifies you for the advertised work but does not promise an uninterrupted task supply. Volumes depend on client demand and your locale, and projects can pause or end. There may be gaps between assignments, even when your account remains approved.

Recent developments and media coverage

TELUS Digital said in May 2026 that its AI contributor network exceeded one million people and supported more than 500 languages and dialects. That scale broadens the range of projects but does not imply equal availability: matching remains specific to the role, locale, language, device and current client volume.

Application process at TELUS Digital

Applications normally begin with a role available in your country through TELUS Digital’s AI Community system. The application normally asks for your contact details, location, languages and CV or résumé. TELUS Digital can check your experience, device, internet address and geographical eligibility before inviting you to the next stage.

Most evaluation roles include study guidelines and an online assessment. The format and time commitment depend on the project, so there is no reliable single estimate. Identity verification is also part of the published hiring process and may require an accepted identity document. After passing, you complete role-specific onboarding and receive the applicable agreement and task access. Approval applies to that position; it does not automatically open every AI Community project. TELUS Digital says legitimate recruitment uses its official channels and does not require an application fee.
