About the role
Follow guided scenarios, record your screen as you complete the task, and upload the recording with your observations. Remote, flexible freelance work. Are you fluent in Japanese and comfortable using your own Android phone to test AI experiences? Outlier is looking for Japanese-speaking contributors to help evaluate mobile AI experiences. This freelance opportunity is remote and flexible. You can contribute on your own schedule when work is available. This is a 1099 contract opportunity on the Outlier.ai platform. Because this is a freelance opportunity, we do not offer internships, sponsorship, or employment.
Responsibilities
- Using your Android phone to complete guided interactions with an AI assistant.
- Recording your screen while completing the required mobile workflow.
- Uploading the recording as instructed and documenting what happened during the interaction.
- Following written evaluation guidelines carefully and providing clear, detailed observations.
Required skills
- Native-level or highly fluent Japanese.
- Access to a personal Android phone that can record its screen.
- Comfort following multi-step mobile instructions and uploading recordings.
- Reliable internet access and attention to detail.
Eligibility
Work arrangement: Fully remote
Eligible countries: Japan
- You must be authorized to work in your country of residence.
- If you are an international student, you may be able to sign up for Outlier if you are on a visa.
- You should contact your tax and/or immigration advisor with specific questions regarding your circumstances.
Compensation details
Up to $31 per hour.
- Rates vary based on expertise and project requirements. Paid via PayPal and AirTM.
- Additional incentives: On average, Outlier Contributors earn an additional 7.5% on top of the core project rates through Missions — Outlier’s version of surge pricing. The top quartile of contributors boost their earnings by an average of 11%.
- Rates vary based on expertise, skills assessment, location, project need, and other factors. For example, higher rates may be offered to PhDs. For non-core work, such as during initial project onboarding or project overtime phases, lower rates apply. Additional incentives data is based on payments made in the past six months and is updated quarterly. Certain projects offer incentive payments. Please review the payment terms for each project.
