About the role
Your deep domain knowledge will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex engineering problems — from circuit analysis to power systems to signal processing.
This is a flexible, fully remote contract role where your technical expertise becomes the benchmark that next-generation AI models learn from.
Why Join Us
- Work on some of the most advanced AI projects in the world alongside leading research labs.
- Fully remote and flexible — you set your own hours.
- Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and collaboration with a global expert community.
- Make a tangible impact on how AI handles real-world engineering problems.
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension.
Responsibilities
- Design Challenging Problems — Craft advanced electrical engineering problems across domains like circuit analysis, power systems, electromagnetics, signal processing, and control systems to stress-test AI reasoning.
- Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI model training.
- Audit Technical Accuracy — Evaluate AI-generated code, circuit diagrams, and mathematical proofs for correctness, safety, and adherence to standards such as IEEE and NEC.
- Improve AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors and gaps in AI-generated responses, then provide structured feedback to improve model performance on engineering tasks.
- Document Failure Modes — Systematically record how and where AI models fall short so researchers can address weaknesses.
Required skills
- Strong foundational knowledge in one or more core areas: VLSI, control systems, telecommunications, power electronics, embedded systems, or signal processing.
- Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and precisely in written form.
- Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing equations, circuit logic, and technical documentation.
- Self-directed and comfortable working asynchronously on your own schedule.
Preferred skills
- Experience with data annotation, technical writing, or content quality review.
- Familiarity with AI evaluation workflows or language model outputs.
- Background in multiple electrical engineering subfields.
Experience and education
- Holds or is pursuing a Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- No prior AI or data annotation experience required.
Schedule details
10–40 hours per week.
Eligibility
Work arrangement: Fully remote
Eligible regions: Chicago
Compensation details
